Hyundai’s official blog let slip today two snips of its upcoming refreshed Genesis Coupe. These high res images make the Gen Coupe look even hotter.
I am beginning to like even more of what’s being shown. Word is that engine power plant upgrades to the V6 and turbo 4 cylinder will be impressive. I have read rumors of 340 to 350 horsepower or perhaps even a supercharged V6 for an R Spec’d V6. The inline turbo 4 should see horsepower ranges in the upper 270ish end.
Hyundai would be wise to push the 4 cyl to 280. I expect we should also see more available options similar to the South Korean version now that the lower priced, sporty Veloster has been released.
In my opinion this gives the Gen Coupe much more of a competitive edge against it’s other rivals like the Nissan 370Z Coupe.

2013 Hyundai Gen Coupe To Break Cover!

The Carblogger.net posted several recent spy photos-including the one shown below-of the soon to be released 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. The site has also reported that the 2013 Hyundai Coupe is scheduled to break cover on Saturday, November 12th, in South Korea. The upcoming 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe has a much more aggressive looking front grille and new projector headlamps and scooped out front hood. There are also more spy pics of the interior that are also available over at The Carblogger.net.
First Impressions
I have to admit that when I first saw this new look of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe it took me by surprise because it is a radical departure from the previous chintzy, frumpy, cheesy front end that I so disliked.
I have always felt that the Genesis Coupe’s front grille needed a more distinct, upscale, sporty look. Now after looking at this from several different angles though, I am starting to like the new look and hopefully the rumored power upgrades (V6 over 340 horsepower and the 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder, upped to a more respectable and sporty 274 horsepower) the Gen Coupe will finally start getting some additional well deserved street creds and this new look is definitely going to help towards that end.
2013 Hyundai Gen Coupe Launches in S. Korea

Hyundai launched the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe in it’s home market of S. Korea on Monday, November 14th. This is more of a refresh, rather than a full redesign but Hyundai definitely added some well needed tweaks. The specs for the refreshed are as follows:
>>Engine
Base 2.0-liter 4 cyl gets direct injection and 275 hp and 275 pound-feet of torque Current 2.0-liter 4 cyl model is 210 hp and 223 pound-feet of torque
3.8-liter V6 gets direct injection and 350 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque. Current engine is 3.8 V6 with 306 hp and 266 pound-feet of torque
>>Transmission
6-Speed manual trans still available on both 2.0-liter 4 cyl and 3.8-liter V6 but optional Hyundai built 8-speed auto tran now available on both 4 cyl and V6 Previously only 6-speed autobox was offered on either.
>>Interior
All new interior with upgrades and refinements in material to seats, in dash-stitching on dash, parking break, improved switch gear, Supervision gauge cluster, additional center mounted performance 3-gauge cluster gauges with Accelerator, Torgue and Oil Temperature mounted just above the HVAC controls.

Hyundai’s 2013 Genesis Coupe has begun making the rounds on the wild, wild, web, well , Youtube to be exact. From this video you can see the aggressive, expressive nature of the all new front end.
The changes are no doubt much needed as it replaces the pinched in, too chintzy look of the previous Gen Coupe. I think this is a big improvement on a very good car and will be just in time to go up against the Toyota/Scion/subaru FR twins.
